Leslie Roberts is a Toronto news anchor. For the last 15 years, she has been on the front lines of Global’s coverage of news in the city. Before joining Global, she worked for CTV in Montreal for several years. She also hosted a morning show on CJAD.
In 2015, an investigation by the Toronto Star revealed that Roberts had an equity stake in a public relations firm. The company’s name was Buzz PR. According to the Toronto Star, it is one of the city’s most prestigious public relations firms.
Roberts and her business partner Kashif Khan launched BuzzPR two years ago. Buzz PR provides media training to lawyers and businesses. Many of its clients appeared on Roberts’ show.
Antony Robart
Antony Robart is a news anchor at Global Toronto. His background in broadcasting includes working for CBC News, ABC News’ Washington Bureau and Radio France International. He was also a producer and videographer for CNBC Europe. As an anchor, he has covered a number of major local, national and international stories.
Before becoming an anchor, he worked for the CBC as a reporter. He then moved back to his home town of Toronto in 2004, and has been a part of the Global News team since.
He has been involved with a number of charity organizations. When he isn’t working, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
Bruce Garvey
Bruce Garvey was a Canadian journalist, reporter, and TV buff who passed away from lung cancer at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Celia, and seven surviving children, including three grandsons and two granddaughters. The award winning reporter began his career as a reporter at the Toronto Star in 1967 and stayed with the paper for the next 25 years. During his tenure he served as the borough editor and city editor among many other posts. His most notable accolade was the title of chief news editor, a position he held until his untimely demise. In addition to his time at the paper, he has authored several books and articles.
Thalia Assuras
Assuras is a Canadian TV journalist. She is a member of the Next Generation Initiative. Her experience in the media is impressive.
Born in London, Ontario, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1980. Her career started with the CBC. At the time, she was the news anchor and reporter for the network’s weekend show. She went on to work for City-TV and CITY-TV.
Before becoming the anchor and reporter for World News Now, she worked for CBS and ABC networks in the U.S. She also has over 30 years of experience in media training. Thalia has interviewed scientists, presidents and other prominent figures.
Jamie Schouela
Jamie Schouela has been named president of Blue Ant Media’s Canadian media business. He will report to Michael MacMillan, the company’s CEO. A former executive at Alliance Atlantis, Schouela brings broadcast and marketing experience to the role.
McLaughlin started his career at the Alliance Atlantis. During his tenure at the company, he helped to build history television and the Showcase. He later returned to Global, where he served as President of Canadian Media. Now, he is responsible for Blue Ant’s expanding global content businesses, including Blue Ant’s upcoming streaming and linear TV networks.
Schouela also oversees the company’s consumer events business. She says Blue Ant’s events strategy is an essential part of the company’s business plan. The Toronto-based firm also provides content for other platforms, including digital and print.
